NOC: Local experts achieve another success for Mellitah in the field of well maintenance.

Zawiya, 19 May 2026 (Lana) For the third time in less than three months, Mellitah Oil and Gas Company’s technical teams achieved a major success by completing maintenance work on well A-28 in the Abu Attifel field, including isolating the associated water layers and re-perforating the well, supporting the company’s efforts to improve well efficiency and boost production rates.

The National Oil Corporation (NOC) said that this process reduced the amount of associated water (WC) from 87% to 0%, dropping from nearly 5,000 barrels per day before the work. At the same time, oil production went up from 580 barrels per day to 2,490 barrels per day, with a wellhead pressure (WHP) of 1,897 psi achieved using the same 56/64 choke size.

NOC said that these results demonstrate the effectiveness of the technical solutions implemented and the ability of the teams to carry out the work to the highest technical standards, leading to improved production performance and better reservoir utilization.
