Minister of State for the Affairs of the NUG Prime Minister meets with the head of the National Diabetes Authority

Tripoli, May 18, 2026 (LANA) – The Minister of State for the Affairs of the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Mohammed bin Ghalbon, met today, Monday, with the head of the National Diabetes Authority, Awad Al-Qawiri, to discuss the Authority's operations and address the most significant challenges it faces.
During the meeting, which was attended by the Director of the Inspection and Follow-up Department at the Cabinet Office, Khalifa Shaliq, and several directors of relevant departments, the head of the Authority reviewed a number of obstacles related to administrative and technical aspects. They also discussed the status of the diabetes patient registration systems and mechanisms for updating them to enhance data accuracy and improve the level of services provided to patients in various regions.
The meeting also addressed the issue of providing medications and supplies for diabetes patients, as well as reviewing the legislation governing the Authority's work and powers. The discussion also focused on identifying any overlap in responsibilities with other relevant entities to ensure clarity of roles and enhance institutional performance.
Ben Ghalbon conveyed the Prime Minister's directives regarding the need to support the Authority and address the difficulties hindering its work, stressing the importance of completing the electronic linking project for the diabetes patient system with the Civil Registry Department nationwide, which will contribute to organizing the database and facilitating the provision of services to those targeted.
