Egyptian Foreign Minister Reaffirms Egypt's Firm Stance on Libyan Unity and Stability

Cairo, May 18, 2026 (LANA) – Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty reaffirmed Egypt's firm stance in support of Libyan unity and stability, stressing the importance of unifying national institutions and reaching a comprehensive political settlement through a Libyan-led process, paving the way for simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections as soon as possible.

This came during a phone call yesterday, Sunday, between the Foreign Minister and the US President's Senior Advisor for Arab and African Affairs, Massad Boulos.  The call also addressed the latest developments in Libya.
