Al-Abed meets Minister of State

Tripoli, May 17, 2026 (LANA) – Minister of Labor and Rehabilitation, Ali Al-Abed, met today, Sunday, with the Minister of State for Prime Ministerial and Cabinet Affairs, Mohammed Bin Ghalbon, to discuss regulating the labor market in Libya and activating the "Wafed" electronic system for regulating expatriate workers. This aims to streamline procedures and improve operational mechanisms within the sector.
The meeting addressed mechanisms for regulating expatriate workers through the activation of the "Wafed" electronic system. This will ensure improved recruitment and residency procedures, enhance oversight of the labor market, and support integration among relevant authorities and the unification of databases.
The meeting also discussed the electronic linking of the "Wafed" system with the Passports and Nationality Authority system, as well as the implementation of the electronic visa project in coordination with the Libyan Telecommunications Holding Company, as part of developing digital services and facilitating government procedures.
The meeting was attended by the Head of the Passports and Nationality Authority, Major General Youssef Murad, and the Director of the Inspection and Follow-up Department at the Cabinet Office, Khalifa Shaliq, along with a number of directors of relevant departments at the Ministry of Labor and Rehabilitation and the Passports and Nationality Authority.
