Tripoli, 13 May 2026 (Lana)—The Attorney General, Al-Sadiq Al-Sour, discussed yesterday with Deputy Special Representatives of the United Nations Secretary-General, Stephanie Koury and Ulrika Richardson, the security situation in Zawiya city and the urgent need to protect civilians from the recurrence of acts of violence and instability and emphasized the importance of enforcing the law in a reliable and impartial manner, holding accountable those responsible for criminal activities and human rights violations.
UNSMIL said on its official page that the meeting stressed the need to strengthen state institutions capable of ensuring effective and neutral security governance, contributing to stability, and consolidating the rule of law.
The discussions also focused on economic governance reforms to combat fuel smuggling, corruption, and illicit cash flows, in addition to exchanging views on the recent findings of the United Nations Panel of Experts report, including imbalances in public resource management.
They affirmed the importance of translating this framework into concrete executive measures and leveraging the current momentum to push for the implementation of overdue reforms and to enhance public confidence in state institutions.
