Benghazi, May 12, 2026 (LANA) – The Libyan-Turkish Business Forum for Building Materials and Construction Supplies commenced in Benghazi on Tuesday, with broad participation from Turkish companies specializing in the building materials and engineering equipment sector. This initiative aims to strengthen economic cooperation and open new avenues for partnership and investment in reconstruction and development projects within Libya.

The forum is organized by Elaf Exhibitions and Conferences Company, in cooperation with the Turkish Metal Exporters Association, and includes the participation of several Turkish companies operating in the fields of building materials, scaffolding systems, formwork, and equipment related to the construction sector.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Benghazi Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture, Munim Al-Saity, affirmed that organizing this event comes within the framework of supporting the reconstruction efforts underway in Benghazi and working to provide direct platforms for communication between Libyan and Turkish businesspeople, thus contributing to building effective economic partnerships that serve the needs of the local market.

Al-Saity explained that the forum represents an important opportunity to enhance commercial and industrial cooperation and opens the door to concluding direct agreements with specialized companies, which will positively impact the availability of building materials, improve supply chains, and reduce procurement costs.

He added that the Chamber of Commerce is working to support economic initiatives that contribute to revitalizing commercial activity and encourage the entry of foreign companies according to regulations that ensure the achievement of national interests and support development and reconstruction projects.

For his part, Fouad Al-Awam, Regional Director of the Arab Union for International Exhibitions and Conferences, explained that the forum constitutes an important professional platform for connecting the Libyan market with Turkish factories specializing in building materials, especially in light of the growing reconstruction needs in Benghazi and other Libyan regions.

Al-Awam pointed out that the forum aims to open the door for Turkish companies to enter the Libyan market through direct partnerships and cooperation agreements with local businesspeople, as well as enabling them to obtain agents within Libya, thus facilitating supply operations and reducing reliance on intermediaries.

He added that this is the second edition of the Libyan-Turkish forums specializing in the building materials sector, and includes direct bilateral business meetings to explore investment opportunities and economic cooperation between the two sides, which will support economic activity and meet the requirements of ongoing urban development projects in the country.
