Tripoli, May 11, 2026 (LANA) – Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah of the Government of National Unity emphasized the importance of improving performance within the health sector and expediting the completion of treatment projects, while fully adhering to standards of transparency, governance, and oversight in the implementation of tenders and contracts. This ensures the optimal use of public funds and high-quality execution.
This came during an expanded meeting he held on Monday, attended by Minister of Finance Rashid Abu Ghafa, Minister of Health Mohammed Al-Ghouj, Minister of State for Prime Ministerial and Cabinet Affairs Mohammed Bin Ghalbon, Secretary-General of the Cabinet Office Adel Dhuhair, and directors of agencies and bodies affiliated with the Ministry of Health, to follow up on the progress of work and the overall situation within the sector.
Dbeibah stressed the necessity of completing the equipping of cancer and dialysis centers according to the highest technical standards and enhancing the operational readiness of health facilities to guarantee the provision of comprehensive treatment services to citizens in all regions without delay or interruption.
The meeting addressed the overall health situation, assessed the level of services provided in hospitals and medical centers, followed up on cancer treatment, reviewed the therapeutic services offered at cancer centers, and discussed the supply of medicines and operational materials, in addition to completing the equipping of centers with the necessary devices and equipment.
The meeting also followed up on the procedures for general and specialized tenders in the health sector, and discussed the administrative and financial obstacles hindering the completion of contracting procedures and the implementation of health projects, with the aim of accelerating the pace of completion and improving the efficiency of implementation.
The heads of the National Diabetes Authority and the National Kidney Disease Authority presented a report on the status and readiness of dialysis centers, the monitoring of the situation of diabetic patients, and the programs for the care and periodic follow-up of patients in various regions.
