Al-Namroush meets with Khoury

Tripoli, May 11, 2026 (LANA) – Chief of the General Staff of the Libyan Army, Lieutenant General Salah al-Din al-Namroush, met today, Monday, with the Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Political Affairs, Stephanie Khoury, and her accompanying delegation, to discuss several issues related to the security track and developments in the western region.

The meeting included extensive discussions on the security track sponsored by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) within the framework of the structured dialogue, as well as emphasizing the importance of proceeding with steps to unify the military institution, considered one of the most important pillars of stability and security in the country.

According to the General Staff, the two sides reviewed the events that took place on the western coast in recent days and discussed ways to build a unified military institution capable of confronting current challenges, thus contributing to supporting stability and protecting state institutions.
