HCS receives the Director of the UNODC in Libya.

Tripoli, 11 May 2026 (Lana), Head of the High Council of State (HCS). Mohamed Takala and the council’s members received yesterday the Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crimes in Libya (UNODC) and Regional Health Coordinator Dr. Mohamed Sinan and Dr. Nabil Abu Amer, the Office's Projects Officer, at the Council's headquarters in Tripoli.
Takala listened to a presentation on the UNODC's work, objectives, and programs in Libya related to combating drugs, organized crime, and corruption, in addition to a study on the phenomenon of drug trafficking and its threat to social stability, along with the study's findings.
The meeting discussed support programs for Libyan authorities to help fight financial corruption and money laundering, aiming to improve how state institutions deal with economic crimes.
Takala emphasized the importance of utilizing the reports and technical studies conducted by the UNODC in a way that serves the national interest, stressing the need for continued coordination with relevant international bodies, particularly UN agencies, to support the state's efforts in combating these crimes in all its forms, including transparency, combating corruption, organized crime, and working to prevent irregular migration.
