Tripoli, May 7, 2026 (LANA) – Chinese Ambassador to Libya, Ma Xueliang, stated that his country will never allow any person or power to separate Taiwan, which rejoined the motherland more than eighty years ago, from China.
In an article, a copy of which was received by the Libyan News Agency, Ma Xueliang emphasized that the Taiwan issue is an internal affair of the People's Republic of China and a red line that will not be crossed or violated, as it is a core Chinese interest.
The Chinese ambassador pointed out in his article that Taiwan's return to the motherland, China, represents the fruit of the Chinese people's victory in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, and is also considered a fruit of the victory in World War II.
Ambassador Ma Xueliang stressed that any attempt to create a "two Chinas" or "one China and one Taiwan" situation on the international stage is doomed to failure. He emphasized that a growing number of countries, in addition to China, not only reaffirm their commitment to the one-China principle and recognize Taiwan as part of Chinese territory, but also express their clear opposition to all forms of separatist activities seeking "Taiwan independence" and their support for Chinese reunification. This clearly demonstrates that opposing "Taiwan independence" and supporting Chinese reunification is in line with the trend of the times and the aspirations of the international community.
Ma Xueliang stated that the aforementioned international documents—the Cairo Declaration of 1943, the Potsdam Declaration of 1945, the Japanese Surrender Document of 1945, and UN General Assembly Resolution 2758 of 1971—constitute the cornerstone of the legal position affirming that Taiwan is part of Chinese territory.
The Chinese Ambassador to Libya explained in his article that the meeting held on April 10th between Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and a delegation from the Kuomintang (KMT) led by its Chairwoman, Zheng Liwen, in Beijing, saw the two sides exchange in-depth views on relations between the two parties and cross-strait relations. This meeting, the first of its kind between the two party leaders since their last encounter ten years prior, is of great significance to the process of Chinese reunification and the strengthening of ties between people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
He added that President Xi Jinping's four-point vision for developing cross-strait relations reaffirms China's official position that both sides of the Taiwan Strait belong to "one China."
This vision also reflects a shared determination to reject separatism, uphold the correct national identity, promote closer ties, and commit to peaceful development to safeguard the common home. Furthermore, it demonstrates a commitment to exchange and integration to improve people's livelihoods and well-being, and to solidarity and cooperation in achieving the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
Ma Xueliang emphasized that the four-point vision elucidates China's policies for promoting the peaceful development of cross-strait relations and advancing the cause of national reunification under the new circumstances.
This vision also reveals that people on both sides of the strait belong to the Chinese nation and are all Chinese. It underscores the importance of cultivating and promoting Chinese culture and strengthening the correct national identity to foster closer ties between people on both sides of the strait.
In his article, the Chinese Ambassador to Libya stated that his country highly values Libya's position and its consistent commitment to the One China principle, which forms a crucial political foundation for deepening mutual political trust and enhancing bilateral cooperation.
Ma Xueliang reiterated the People's Republic of China's unwavering support for Libya's sovereignty, independence, unity, and territorial integrity, stressing the necessity of finding a political solution to the Libyan crisis based on the principle of "Libyan-led and Libyan-owned."
The Chinese ambassador concluded his article by stating that Libya is a distinguished friend and partner of his country, as the two nations have consistently supported each other on issues concerning their core interests and major concerns.
He also expressed his country's readiness to work with its friends in Libya to advance mutually beneficial cooperation across all fields through balanced and systematic steps, and to further develop the existing strategic partnership between the two countries with tangible results that will benefit both friendly peoples.
