Ministry of Foreign Affairs meets with the Ambassador of India

Tripoli, May 7, 2026 (LANA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity agreed today, Thursday, with the Ambassador of the Republic of India to Libya, Hafiz Rahman Mohammed, to issue visas for Libyan citizens and businesspeople through the Indian Embassy in Tripoli, instead of requiring them to travel to Tunisia.
The Ministry stated on its official page that the agreement was reached under the chairmanship of the Director of the International Cooperation Department at the Ministry, Ashraf Mohammed Al-Taib, to enhance bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest and to explore ways to support and develop it in a manner that serves the interests of both countries.
The Ministry explained that it was agreed to invite the Libyan-Indian Joint Committee to hold its next session in Tripoli this year at the ministerial level, preceded by a preparatory meeting of experts from both countries.
Ambassador Hafiz Rahman confirmed during the meeting that the system will be activated at the embassy in the near future.
According to the ministry, the ambassador reviewed the upcoming visit of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to India, leading a high-level delegation, to discuss key bilateral, regional, and international issues of mutual interest, and to coordinate positions and support in international forums.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of continued consultation and coordination to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two friendly nations.
