HoR Follows Up on the Implementation of Security Council Resolutions Regarding Frozen Assets.

Tripoli, May 7, 2026 (LANA) – The team tasked with monitoring the implementation of Security Council Resolutions 1970, 1973, 2441, and 2769, established by House of Representatives Resolution No. (15) of 2026, followed up on the implementation of the latest Security Council resolution concerning frozen Libyan assets abroad. The meeting was attended by a number of officials and members of relevant committees.
The meeting, held today, Thursday, in Benghazi, included the head of the team and Chairman of the House of Representatives' Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Youssef Ibrahim Al-Aqouri; team member and Chairman of the Committee on Planning, Finance, and the General Budget, Omar Ali Tantoush; and team member and Head of the Administrative Control Authority, Abdullah Qaderbouh.
The meeting discussed mechanisms for monitoring the implementation of relevant international resolutions and coordinating efforts among competent national bodies. This coordination aims to ensure a unified framework for monitoring and technical reports related to the issue. The meeting also reviewed updates on the implementation of Security Council Resolution 2819, which mandated an international financial audit office to review aspects related to frozen Libyan assets. Discussions focused on mechanisms for addressing this issue in a way that enhances transparency and safeguards Libyan assets in accordance with established international frameworks.
Participants emphasized the importance of continued coordination among national bodies and strengthening communication with the Security Council's sanctions committee. This will contribute to protecting frozen Libyan assets and mitigating associated risks.
