Libya condemns the terrorist attack in Chad and calls for enhanced regional cooperation to combat terrorism.

Tripoli, May 6, 2026 (LANA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity strongly condemned the terrorist attack that targeted a military base in Chad, resulting in a number of deaths and injuries among the armed forces.

In an official statement issued today, Wednesday, the Ministry expressed its profound condemnation of these criminal acts, emphasizing that they represent a serious threat to security and stability in the Sahel and Sahara region, and in Africa in general. The Ministry reiterated its categorical rejection of all forms of terrorism, extremism, and violence.

The statement stressed the importance of strengthening regional coordination and cooperation among neighboring countries to confront shared security threats, calling for the unification of regional and international efforts to eliminate terrorism and eradicate its sources.

Libya also expressed its full solidarity with the Republic of Chad, its government and people, during this tragic time, affirming its support for all measures that would enhance security and stability in the region.

In closing, the Ministry extended its deepest condolences and sincere sympathies to the families of the victims and to the government and people of Chad, wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.
