Benghazi, May 5, 2026 (LANA) – The Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Hanna Tetteh, accompanied by her two deputies, held constructive discussions on Tuesday with the Director-General of the Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund, Belkacem Haftar, according to the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).
The meeting, according to the Mission, addressed the latest political, economic, and security developments, as well as efforts to overcome the current impasse in preparation for holding national elections.
The importance of the agreement to unify public spending was also discussed, with emphasis placed on the fact that its implementation could contribute to achieving economic stability, facilitating the adoption of a unified budget, and supporting the broader unification of national institutions.
