Blihaq: Benghazi prepares to host the Asian-African Parliamentary Conference amid intensive arrangements

Benghazi, May 5, 2026 (LANA) – The Head of the House of Representatives’ Diwan, Abdullah Al-Masri Al-Fadhil, met yesterday, Monday, with the First Vice-President of the Asian-African Parliamentary Assembly, Saud Rashid Al-Hujailan, and the Secretary-General of the Assembly, Faiz Al-Shawabkeh, to discuss arrangements and preparations for the Asian-African Parliamentary Conference scheduled to be held in Benghazi.

This meeting was part of the ongoing preparations to host this international parliamentary event. The two sides discussed ways to coordinate efforts to ensure the conference is organized in a manner that reflects its importance and the expected level of participation.

According to a press statement by the House of Representatives spokesperson, Abdullah Blihaq, the Head of the Diwan welcomed the delegation at the beginning of the meeting, emphasizing the importance of Benghazi hosting this international event. He noted that this reflects the city’s readiness in various aspects to host regional and international events. He added that the meeting was also attended by the Deputy Head of the Diwan, Rasmi Balrouin, and the Parliamentary Affairs Advisor, Ahmed Al-Hashash.

He also stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation between African and Asian parliaments, noting the role the conference plays in consolidating parliamentary partnerships and expanding the horizons of joint cooperation among member states.

This meeting comes within the framework of efforts to ensure the success of the conference, which contributes to supporting joint parliamentary work and strengthening relations among participating countries.
