Libya and Russia discuss boosting non-oil exports and opening Russian markets

Tripoli, May 5, 2026 (LANA) – The Libyan Export Development Authority, headed by Mohamed Al-Anqari, held a meeting at its headquarters in Tripoli with the Russian Ambassador to Libya, Aydar Aganin, to discuss ways to develop trade relations between the two countries, with a focus on supporting non-oil Libyan exports.
The Authority stated on its official Facebook page Monday evening that the meeting addressed aspects of joint cooperation to open up access for Libyan products to Russian markets, as well as the possibility of the Russian side providing the necessary facilities to contribute to increasing the flow of Libyan exports to Russia.
The Authority added that both sides agreed to continue holding meetings in the coming period to develop practical mechanisms for the anticipated cooperation and to work on a legal framework that serves the interests of both parties.
For its part, the Russian Embassy in Libya stated on its official Facebook page that the Russian Ambassador held a meeting with the head of the Libyan Export Development Authority, Mohamed Al-Anqari, where the two sides discussed ways to develop bilateral relations through the channels of national institutions concerned with promoting exports.
