Tripoli, May 4, 2026 (LANA) – The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) announced that the Security and Governance tracks of the Structured Dialogue held parallel meetings in Benghazi and Tripoli to continue their deliberations within the framework of the UN-facilitated political process.
Over the next four days, participants in the Security track will focus their discussions on aspects related to unifying Libya’s military and security institutions, addressing key challenges and priorities, taking into account legal, operational, and political dimensions, as well as confidence-building measures, lessons learned from international initiatives, and pathways to enhance coordination and command structures.
The agenda also includes discussions on reintegration and human resource alignment, in addition to the role of women in promoting a comprehensive security framework.
Participants in the Governance track are working to address key bottlenecks at the constitutional and executive levels, along with issues related to local administration, with the aim of finalizing their recommendations for inclusion in the final report of the Structured Dialogue.
