Libya Elected Chair of the Pan-African Parliament's Rules, Privileges, and Discipline Committee

Benghazi – April 3, 2026 (LANA) – The spokesperson for the House of Representatives, Abdullah Blihaq, announced the election of House of Representatives member and Pan-African Parliament member, Saleh Qalma, as Chair of the Pan-African Parliament's Rules, Privileges, and Discipline Committee. This occurred during the extraordinary session of the seventh parliamentary term, held in Midrand, South Africa.
In a press statement, Blihaq explained that Qalma's election reflects the House of Representatives delegation's participation in the Pan-African Parliament meetings and demonstrates the active presence of Libyan parliamentary diplomacy within continental forums.
The Rules, Privileges, and Discipline Committee is one of the core committees within the Pan-African Parliament. It is responsible for monitoring compliance with the regulations governing the Parliament's work and addressing matters related to parliamentary conduct and discipline.
This position is expected to contribute to strengthening Libya’s role within the African Parliament and supporting its presence on issues of common interest at the continental level.
