Libyan-Tunisian-Algerian Agreement to Enhance Groundwater Management

Tripoli, April 29, 2026 (LANA) – An agreement to establish a consultation mechanism on shared groundwater resources in the northern Sahara between Libya, Tunisia, and Algeria was signed today in Tripoli.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Ministers of Water Resources from Libya and Tunisia, along with a representative from Algeria. They emphasized the need to coordinate efforts and strengthen regional cooperation in water resource management to address the growing challenges in the region.
The meeting resulted in the adoption of the internal regulations of the Consultative Body, the ratification of the annual financial contributions of member states, and the assignment of the presidency of the Body for the current session to the Algerian side. The minutes of the meeting were also approved, and the participating delegations were honored.
