Al-Abed Signs Memorandum of Understanding with His Tunisian Counterpart

Tunis, April 29, 2026 (LANA) – Ali Al-Abed, Minister of Labor and Rehabilitation in the Government of National Unity, signed a memorandum of understanding in the Tunisian capital with Riad Chawad, Tunisian Minister of Employment and Vocational Training, to enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of labor and vocational training.

The memorandum aims to modernize training programs, establish effective partnerships to twin training centers between the two countries, organize the exchange of expertise, and stimulate cooperation between the Libyan and Tunisian private sectors to accelerate reconstruction and development.

During the signing ceremony, the two ministers emphasized the importance of strengthening economic integration and activating digital transformation in regulating work procedures, while also stressing the adoption of the "Wafed" platform as the official channel for regulating the recruitment of workers and guaranteeing their legal rights.

The two sides agreed to form a joint technical team comprising specialists from both ministries, tasked with preparing the executive program for the memorandum, developing implementation mechanisms and timetables, in addition to monitoring technical coordination and data exchange between the two parties.
