Dbaiba Meets with Brent

Tripoli, April 28, 2026 (LANA) – Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdelhamid Dbaiba, stressed the importance of continued US support for Libyan institutions, particularly in the oil sector, which he described as the cornerstone of the national economy.
This came during his meeting on Tuesday with US Special Envoy to Libya, Jeremy Brent, to discuss the latest economic developments, ways to support financial stability, and ways to enhance cooperation in the energy sector.
Dbaiba emphasized the need to expand partnerships with major US companies to support production development, knowledge transfer, and the strengthening of expansion and investment plans.
During the meeting, Dbaiba highlighted the importance of the unified development agreement and the unified budget as essential steps toward ending parallel spending and unifying the state's financial direction. He noted that this would contribute to consolidating economic stability, enhancing transparency, and improving the efficiency of public spending.
The meeting addressed the importance of building on existing economic understandings, in order to support the path of stability and open up broader prospects for sustainable development throughout the country.
