Tripoli, 27 April 2026 (Lana)—Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General, UN Resident Coordinator in Libya, Ulrika Richardson, stated that the Libyan women continue to play a pivotal role in shaping the country's present and future, praising their strength, courage, and determination across various sectors.
This came in a tweet by her on the occasion of the Libyan Women’s National Day, on April 26th each year, and said that she reflected on the many inspiring Libyan women she has met since arriving in the country last year, emphasizing that their contributions extend across diverse communities, institutions, and work environments.
“Their voices, leadership, and contributions are shaping Libya’s present and its future,” she stated.
“Supporting women’s full participation is essential to building a more just, stable, and prosperous Libya,” she added.
