A Japanese diplomatic delegation visits Benghazi

Benghazi, April 26, 2026 (LANA) – The Embassy of Japan in Libya announced today, Sunday, that a Japanese diplomatic delegation visited Benghazi and laid a wreath at the tomb of the martyr Omar al-Mukhtar, honoring his national symbolism and enduring legacy of resilience and sacrifice.

The embassy stated that the delegation also visited the Peace Center in Benghazi, where they learned about aspects of the Libyan people's history and struggle.

The embassy explained that this visit reflects Japan's deep respect for Libyan heritage and underscores its continued commitment to strengthening understanding and friendship between the two countries.

It is worth noting that the delegation's visit is an important step towards expanding cooperation between Japan and Libya, particularly in cultural and other fields, and affirms the shared desire to build a future based on partnership and dialogue.
