At the National Diabetes Conference: Dbeibah affirms continued support for the treatment system and the provision of medicines.

Tripoli, January 23, 2026 (LANA) – Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah of the Government of National Unity affirmed that the government prioritizes supporting preventative and treatment programs and enhancing the quality of healthcare services provided to citizens, ensuring a more effective response to patients' needs.

This came during his opening remarks today, Thursday, at the 7th Libyan National Diabetes Conference, organized by the National Diabetes Authority. The conference saw wide participation from doctors and specialists from various Libyan cities, along with a select group of medical professionals working in the health sector.

During the opening, Dbeibah explained that the convening of this conference reflects the growing national awareness of the importance of addressing chronic diseases, particularly diabetes. He emphasized the implementation of practical measures to begin supplying diabetes medications to meet the needs of all types for a full year. He also affirmed the government's continued commitment to supporting medical personnel, developing healthcare infrastructure, and strengthening the medical supply system, thereby ensuring the continuous availability of treatment and its efficient and equitable access to all citizens.

On the sidelines of the conference, the Prime Minister toured a medical exhibition held as part of the event. During his visit, he viewed the latest equipment and technologies used in the diagnosis and monitoring of diabetes, as well as presentations on treatment and prevention programs and scientific initiatives aimed at improving the quality of healthcare services provided to patients in Libya.

The conference program includes a series of scientific workshops and specialized panel discussions with experts and physicians from across Libya. These sessions focus on the latest developments in the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes, the exchange of expertise among medical institutions, and discussions on the challenges facing the health sector and ways to develop it.

This conference is being organized within the framework of scientific and medical efforts aimed at promoting the prevention of diabetes and its complications, and at producing practical recommendations that support national health policies and contribute to raising the level of healthcare in Libya.
