Tripoli – April 23, 2026 (LANA) – The European Union and the United Nations emphasized the importance of all Libyan parties engaging in a genuine spirit of consensus during this phase, in a way that serves the interests of the Libyan people and enhances the prospects for achieving unity and stability.

This came in a tweet published by the EU Ambassador to Libya, Nicola Orlando, following his meeting yesterday in Tripoli with the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Hanna Tetteh.

According to the tweet, both sides welcomed the progress made in the Libyan-led political roadmap, along with national efforts aimed at achieving financial sustainability and reunifying the military institution.

The EU Ambassador affirmed his support for facilitating the work of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), noting the importance of its role in supporting the political process.

Orlando also indicated that the current positive momentum, despite the existing challenges, represents an important opportunity to advance the path to stability and prosperity in Libya.
