Tripoli, April 22, 2026 (LANA) – The President of the High Council of State, Mohamed Takala, issued an official letter to the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), affirming the Council's support for the continuation of UN efforts aimed at advancing the political process in the country and the necessity of adhering to the consensus-based path agreed upon by the Libyan parties.

In its letter, published on its official page, the Council stressed the importance of respecting previous political agreements and the need to avoid any unilateral steps that could harm national consensus or deepen institutional divisions. It emphasized that the political solution must remain based on consensus among the various parties and under the auspices of the United Nations.

The Council also reiterated its support for the constitutional and electoral process as the optimal path to achieving comprehensive elections that will end the transitional phases and bring about political stability in the country. It stressed the need to unify efforts among official institutions to ensure the success of this process.

The Council warned against the continued institutional division and its potential political and security repercussions, calling for enhanced coordination among all relevant parties to ensure the preservation of the state's unity and stability.

The correspondence concluded by reaffirming the High Council of State's commitment to working with local and international partners, foremost among them the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), to advance the political process based on the principle of comprehensive national consensus.
