Al-Menfi follows up on the outcomes of Flintlock 2026 and affirms support for unifying the military establishment

Tripoli, April 21, 2026 (LANA) – The Head of the Presidential Council and Supreme Commander of the Libyan Army, Mohammed Al-Menfi, received today, Tuesday, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense for Military Regions, Major General Abdul Salam Al-Zoubi, in the presence of the (3+3) Committee, where he reviewed the outcomes of  the Flintlock 2026 Exercise.

The Head of the Presidential Council affirmed that Libya's participation in this exercise comes within the framework of official initiatives he is leading, including his correspondence with the UN Security Council regarding the organization of security and military centers, in accordance with Security Council Resolution 2769 (2025), which addressed the issue of military training within the context of supporting efforts to unify the military and security institutions.

Exercise Flintlock, organized by the US Africa Command (AFRICOM), is considered one of the most prominent annual military exercises on the African continent. This year, it is being held in Libya and Côte d'Ivoire, after previous iterations in several countries, with the participation of units from the Libyan Army.
