Ministry of Defense meets with the EU.

Tripoli, 21 April 2026 (Lana) Undersecretary of Defense Abdulsalam Al Zoubi received, yesterday, at his office in the ministry's headquarters in Tripoli, the EU Ambassador to Libya, Nicola Orlando, and his accompanying delegation and discussed strengthening joint cooperation and supporting the efforts of stability and security in the country.
According to the ministry’s official page, the two parties discussed ways to increase the level of coordination with the EU institutions, which aims to contribute to consolidating security, unifying efforts on issues of common interest, and strengthening Libya's role and standing in its regional and international environment.
For his side, in a tweet, Orlando congratulated the ministry on the successful Flintlock 2026 exercise and on the important steps taken to enhance the coordination of national efforts, particularly in strengthening land border control.
“I reiterated the EU’s readiness to support these priorities and future avenues for cooperation in light of evolving regional and global dynamics, including within the framework of Operation EUNAVFOR MED IRINI and its support to Libya’s maritime institutions," Orlando added.
