Sisi and Mosaad Boulos discuss regional crises and affirm support for stability in Libya and Sudan

Cairo, April 20, 2026 (LANA) – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi met on Monday in Cairo with Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor to Donald Trump on Arab and African Affairs, to discuss developments in Libya, Sudan, Lebanon, and the Horn of Africa.
A statement from the Egyptian Presidency spokesperson indicated that the talks emphasized the need to intensify international efforts to end the war in Sudan and alleviate the humanitarian suffering. Egypt welcomed the international community's pledges of €1.5 billion at the recent Berlin Conference to support the humanitarian response.
Sisi affirmed his country's commitment to a vision based on preserving Sudan's sovereignty and unity, rejecting any foreign interference or attempts to destabilize the country or create a political vacuum. He also highlighted Egypt's active role within the Quartet mechanism aimed at ending the war and launching a political process leading to a sustainable settlement.
For his part, Massad Boulos stated in a post on the X platform that the United States and Egypt will continue to support the Libyan people in their efforts to unify institutions and work towards holding elections, facilitated by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).
Paul expressed his country's appreciation for Egypt's role in addressing the Sudanese crisis, praising Cairo's efforts to restore security and stability, and affirming Washington's commitment to continued coordination with Egypt and its partners.
Regarding Lebanon, the meeting reviewed the latest developments, with Sisi commending Donald Trump's efforts to achieve a ceasefire.
The discussions also addressed the situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where Egypt welcomed the agreement between the Congolese government and the M23 movement to expand the ceasefire monitoring mechanism, while reiterating its support for US efforts in this regard.
