Benghazi, 20 April 2026 (Lana)—UN Deputy Special Representative for the Secretary-General, Stephanie Koury, said that she held productive talks yesterday in Benghazi with the General Commander of the LNA, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, and discussed the latest political, economic, and security developments, alongside efforts to break the current political deadlock in preparation for national elections.
“We also reviewed the progress of the political process in light of UNSMIL’s efforts, including the Structured Dialogue. Furthermore, we emphasized the importance of unifying state institutions and the national budget to enhance stability and improve service delivery for all Libyans,” Koury added in a tweet.
The talks came in the conclusion of the four-day visit by the UN official to Benghazi.
