Benghazi, April 19, 2026 (LANA) – The Second Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Misbah Douma, held a meeting today, Sunday, with the Chairman of the House's Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Committee, Yousef Al-Aqouri, and Member of Parliament Yousef Kamoud Al-Fakhri. Also present were the Head of the House of Representatives' Office, Rasmi Balrouin, and the Director of the Office's Relations Department, Idris Al-Farjani. The meeting addressed the latest developments regarding the African Parliamentary candidacy.
The meeting discussed mechanisms to support the candidacy of House of Representatives member and Pan-African Parliament member Yousef Kamoud Al-Fakhri for the presidency of the Pan-African Parliament. The necessary diplomatic efforts and ways to coordinate with member states to garner the required support for this candidacy were reviewed, thus strengthening the chances of success in this continental competition.
The attendees also discussed the importance of unifying official efforts within the House of Representatives and coordinating diplomatic positions to ensure organized and effective support for the Libyan candidacy, with a focus on enhancing communication with African parliaments and relevant legislative bodies.
