Tripoli, April 19, 2026 (LANA) – The Presidential Council expressed its surprise at the unofficial and unbalanced presentation of arrangements for a mini-dialogue under the auspices of the UN mission, and their subsequent leak to the media without any official clarification. This, according to the Council's media office, has created confusion among the public and disrupted the overall situation.
This came in a statement issued by the Presidential Council, relayed by its media office, in which it clarified that it had followed the reports circulating in some media outlets regarding arrangements for a mini-dialogue under the auspices of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).
The Council emphasized in the statement that such methods do not contribute to building trust, nor do they serve the efforts aimed at uniting Libyans. On the contrary, they could push the situation towards unforeseen and potentially disastrous paths.
The Presidential Council called on UNSMIL to promptly provide an official clarification regarding the circulating reports, in order to set the record straight and prevent any unnecessary escalation. The Council reiterated its commitment to supporting any serious effort aimed at achieving stability and uniting Libyans.
