Libyan-UN Talks in Antalya

Tripoli – April 18, 2026 (LANA) – The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbaiba, discussed the latest developments in the Libyan political situation with the UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, Rosemary DiCarlo. He emphasized the importance of a unified financial spending agreement in supporting stability.

This meeting took place on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, and was attended by the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Hanna Tetteh. Discussions focused on the evolving political landscape and ways to advance the political process towards ending the transitional phases.

According to the Prime Minister's Media Office, both sides stressed the importance of preserving the unity of institutions and supporting the national consensus-based approach to strengthen political stability in the country.

They praised the achievement of the unified financial spending agreement, considering it a significant step after more than thirteen years of division, given its direct impact on supporting economic stability and improving living conditions.

The Prime Minister stressed that the agreement represents a practical foundation for building a more stable phase and reflects a national will to overcome the financial and institutional division, calling on all parties to commit to its implementation in the best interests of the Libyan people.
