Libyan-Nigerien Talks to Activate Bilateral Agreements

Tripoli | April 17, 2026 (LANA) – A Libyan delegation, including the envoy of the Minister of Defense of the Government of National Unity, Major General Jibril Al-Shtewi, and the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Taher Al-Baour, paid an official visit to the Republic of Niger to discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation, particularly in the fields of defense and foreign affairs.
The Ministry of Defense stated on its official page today, Friday, that the visit addressed a number of issues of common interest, with a focus on activating existing cooperation agreements between the two countries in the diplomatic and defense sectors.
During the visit, the Libyan delegation held a series of meetings with the Prime Minister of Niger and its Minister of Foreign Affairs, as well as officials from the Ministry of Defense. According to the same source, the two sides discussed mechanisms for strengthening joint coordination and expanding areas of cooperation to serve mutual interests.
At the conclusion of the visit, both sides affirmed the depth of the relations that unite Libya and Niger, stressing the importance of continuing joint work to develop them, in a way that contributes to supporting stability and enhancing cooperation at the regional level.
