Ministry of Youth Represents Libya at the 2026 UN Youth Forum in New York

New York – April 16, 2026 (LANA) – Minister of Youth, Haitham Al-Zahaf, participated in the opening of the 2026 UN Economic and Social Council Youth Forum, held at the United Nations headquarters in New York from April 14 to 16. This marks the first international youth participation at this level for Libyan youth, enhancing their presence in international forums.

According to the Ministry of Youth's official page, this year's forum is being held under the theme: "The 2026 High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development," focusing on adopting transformative, equitable, innovative, and coordinated actions to advance the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and accelerate progress towards achieving them.

The forum is an annual global platform that provides young people with an active opportunity to engage in dialogue with member states, enabling them to present their visions and proposals and contribute to shaping recommendations and policies within the framework of international efforts to achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

Minister Al-Zahaf is scheduled to participate in several ministerial sessions, alongside senior UN officials and international partners, to discuss prospects for joint cooperation and enhance the participation of Libyan youth in accelerating progress towards achieving national development goals, thereby solidifying their role as key partners in the sustainable development process.
