Libyan Ministry of Defense and Red Cross Agree to Enhance Cooperation on International Humanitarian Law

Tripoli, April 16, 2026 (LANA) – The Ministry of Defense of the Government of National Unity and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delegation in Libya agreed to intensify joint cooperation to enhance knowledge of the law of armed conflict and address related issues.
This came during a meeting between the Director of the Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law Office at the Ministry of Defense and the Head of the ICRC delegation in Libya and his accompanying delegation, within the framework of strengthening joint cooperation between the two sides.
According to the Ministry of Defense's official page on Wednesday evening, the meeting addressed ways to enhance cooperation in training programs related to international humanitarian law, in addition to humanitarian work related to the issue of missing persons and detainees.
