Active Libyan Participation in the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network

New York, April 16, 2026 (LANA) – Fawzi Al-Nuwairi, First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and Head of the Libyan Parliamentary Delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), participated in the Fifth Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network (NAM PN), held in Istanbul, Turkey, on the sidelines of the 152nd IPU Assembly. He was accompanied by House of Representatives member and Parliamentary Delegation member Sultana Al-Mismari. Al-Nuwairi also served as Vice-President of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network for the African Group.

According to a statement issued today, Thursday, by the spokesperson for the House of Representatives, Abdullah Blihaq, the meeting addressed a draft resolution to establish the headquarters of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network. This is considered an organizational step aimed at strengthening the network's work and coordinating the efforts of its member parliaments.

The participants also discussed a proposal to grant the Arab Parliament observer status with the Non-Aligned Movement's parliamentary network, according to Blihaq.

This participation comes within the framework of Libya's active presence in international parliamentary forums and aims to strengthen the role of the House of Representatives in multilateral gatherings.
