Tripoli, April 6, 2026 (LANA) – The National Center for Disease Control of the government appointed by the House of Representatives denied reports circulating in some media outlets and on social media regarding a significant increase in the number of pulmonary tuberculosis cases in Benghazi. The Center emphasized that the figures being circulated are inaccurate and do not reflect the true epidemiological situation.

The Center clarified that the reported number of 3,082 cases is incorrect, stating that the total number of cases registered to date is only 366, including both active and inactive cases among Libyans and non-Libyans.

The Center confirmed that epidemiological surveillance teams are monitoring the situation regularly according to established standards, classifying cases as those receiving home treatment, those who have discontinued treatment, and their contacts, in addition to monitoring cases among foreign residents.

The Center stressed its continued efforts in monitoring infected cases and providing necessary healthcare according to approved protocols, urging the public not to be misled by rumors or inaccurate information.

The center also called on media outlets and social media users to be accurate and obtain information from official sources to avoid causing anxiety and confusion among citizens.
