Tripoli, April 6, 2026 (LANA) – The Military Intelligence Chiefs Conference for the Sahel and Mediterranean countries – 2026 – commenced this morning in Tripoli, with the participation of the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah.
In his opening address, the Prime Minister stated that the timing of the conference carries profound significance given recent international events, and represents an important opportunity to assess the current situation and establish more effective frameworks for cooperation among security agencies.
Dbeibah emphasized that regional security is a collective responsibility that cannot be achieved individually, and that successfully confronting cross-border threats depends on strengthening intelligence coordination, exchanging information in a timely manner, and building trust among the security agencies of the participating countries.
In his address, Dbeibah pointed out that terrorism in the Sahel and Africa represents a growing threat that exploits security vacuums and feeds on conflicts. He explained that the challenges we face today require us to move from the stage of diagnosis to implementation, which involves exchanging visions to build joint working mechanisms. He added, "We are confident that this conference, with its wealth of experience and expertise, is capable of laying the foundations for security and intelligence cooperation that serves the interests of our peoples."
