Al-Abed discusses with the Tunisian Minister of Social Affairs the mechanisms for regulating Tunisian workers in Libya and regularizing their status.

Tripoli – April 2, 2026 (LANA) – The Minister of Labor and Rehabilitation in the Government of National Unity, Ali Al-Abed Al-Rida, met today, Thursday, with the Tunisian Minister of Social Affairs, Issam Al-Ahmar, to discuss matters related to the labor market. The meeting was also attended by the Chargé d'Affaires of the Tunisian Embassy in Libya, Mohamed Habib Sassi.
According to the Ministry of Labor and Rehabilitation in the Government of National Unity, the meeting reviewed mechanisms for regulating the presence of Tunisian workers in Libya and ways to regularize their status in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, thereby contributing to the regulation and organization of the labor market.
The two sides also discussed the issue of regularizing social security procedures, emphasizing the importance of joint coordination to ensure the protection of workers' rights and enhance the exchange of social security benefits between the two brotherly countries.
The two sides also discussed aspects of technical cooperation in the fields of occupational safety and health, and ways to improve the work environment through the exchange of expertise and the application of professional standards. They also discussed activating the role of joint committees to monitor the implementation of agreements related to protecting workers' rights in various sectors.
The meeting concluded with an emphasis on continuing direct coordination between the two ministries and working to overcome administrative and technical difficulties, in order to enhance common interests and support the stability and development of the labor market in both countries.
