Sebha, April 2, 2026 (LANA) – The Mayor of Sebha, Ahfaf Omar Al-Aswad, conducted a field visit yesterday, Wednesday, to the sewage lake known as "Awma Al-Sabba," located in the Hajarah district.
In a statement issued after the visit, the Mayor expressed his shock and concern regarding the current environmental situation there, which has reached a critical stage requiring immediate intervention.
He warned that the lake is at risk of collapse at any moment, which could lead to a genuine environmental disaster affecting the safety of citizens and causing serious damage to nearby homes and farms, in addition to its dangerous impact on livestock.
He urgently appealed to all relevant authorities, each according to its jurisdiction, to take immediate action and implement the necessary measures to address this danger before it is too late. He held the competent authorities fully responsible for any harm that may befall citizens or their public and private property as a result of failing to respond quickly to this clear threat, emphasizing that protecting the city and its people is a collective responsibility that cannot be postponed or neglected.
