Tripoli, March 31, 2026 (LANA) – Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah met today, Tuesday, with the Minister of Sports, Fouad Barghash, in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Cabinet, Adel Dhuwair, to follow up on several files related to the development of the sports sector.

The meeting discussed a plan to support national teams and sports clubs in various sports, and mechanisms to enable them to play their role in nurturing talent and raising the level of competition in different sports.

The meeting also addressed a plan to support the participation of national teams, sports federations, and independent athletes in regional and international events, ensuring a well-organized and honorable presence for Libyan sports in various arenas.

The meeting also discussed activating school sports activities, considering them a fundamental source for discovering talent and promoting sports participation among young people, thus contributing to building a sustainable sports foundation.

Dbeibah stressed the importance of operating sports facilities, especially those that have recently been renovated and upgraded, to ensure their continued use and enhance their operational efficiency to serve athletes and youth.

He emphasized the need to implement these programs according to clear priorities, in a way that contributes to developing the sports sector and enhancing its presence at both the regional and international levels.
