Tripoli, March 31, 2026 (LANA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity strongly condemned the Israeli Knesset's ratification of the law to execute Palestinian prisoners, considering it a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions, which guarantee the protection of prisoners and ensure their fundamental rights.
In a statement issued today, Tuesday, the Ministry asserted that this dangerous measure is not merely a political escalation, but a dangerous precedent that threatens the foundations of international justice and the lives of thousands of Palestinian prisoners unjustly detained in Israeli prisons. It also undermines international efforts to achieve a just and comprehensive peace and opens the door to further grave human rights violations.
The Ministry called upon the international community, including the United Nations and human rights and humanitarian organizations, to take urgent action to pressure for a halt to these blatant violations and to compel the Zionist entity to cease its invalid decisions and legislation and its unilateral and illegal practices targeting the Palestinian people and their presence on their land. The Ministry further demanded the protection of Palestinian prisoners and the preservation of their legitimate rights in accordance with international law.
The Ministry concluded its statement by reiterating the unwavering position of the State of Libya and the Libyan people regarding The just Palestinian cause and its unwavering solidarity and support for the brotherly Palestinian people and their legitimate and inalienable rights to establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
