An interactive cultural forum in Tripoli to support the artistic movement in Libya

Tripoli, March 31, 2026 (LANA) – The capital, Tripoli, hosted the first Interactive Forum for Culture and Arts on Tuesday, with the participation of a select group of artists and intellectuals from across Libya. This initiative aims to strengthen cultural ties and support the arts movement.

The forum was organized under the auspices of the General Security Service of the Ministry of Interior of the Government of National Unity. It provides a space for artists and those interested in cultural affairs to gather, exchange ideas and experiences, showcase their artwork, and discuss cultural and artistic issues and their role in promoting community awareness and preserving cultural identity.

Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Al-Marghani, Head of Public Relations at the General Security Service, told a reporter from the Libyan News Agency that the forum is a gesture of appreciation for artists. He noted that the General Security Service was keen to host this distinguished group of artists in recognition of their contributions to culture and the arts. He added that the forum includes a short dramatic performance and a ceremony honoring several artists for their artistic achievements.

For his part, Najm Bakoush, director of the National Theater in Derna, expressed his delight at participating in the forum, emphasizing that such events contribute to bringing together artists and intellectuals from various Libyan cities and strengthening cultural ties among them. He expressed his hope that such cultural gatherings, which reflect Libya's unity and cultural diversity, would continue.

Khaled Abdel Rahman Abdel Salam, head of the forum's organizing committee, explained that this event is the first of its kind, bringing together artists from the eastern, western, and southern regions. He confirmed that the Ministry of Interior and the General Security Service provided significant support for organizing the forum. He added that the forum's program includes several artistic and cultural activities, including theater and poetry performances, in addition to honoring a number of participating artists.

In the same vein, Hassan Wanis, former head of the steering committee of the Ministry of Culture, affirmed that art represents a noble message that contributes to strengthening social cohesion and fostering unity among the people of the nation. He pointed out that the presence of artists from different regions of Libya embodies the spirit of national unity and reflects the bright face of Libyan culture.

The forum concluded with an artistic performance and the honoring of several participating artists, emphasizing the importance of continuing such cultural events that foster creativity, support the arts, and strengthen ties among the nation's people.
