The Minister of Housing in the Unity Government discusses with the Chinese Ambassador strengthening bilateral cooperation relations between the two countries.

Tripoli, March 31, 2026 (LANA) – The Minister of Housing and Construction in the Government of National Unity, Essam Al-Tamouni, met with the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Libya, Ma Xueliang, to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

This meeting took place on Tuesday and was attended by the Undersecretaries of the Ministry for Technical Affairs and for Reconstruction Affairs.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Chinese Ambassador affirmed his country's desire to contribute to Libya's reconstruction efforts through specialized Chinese companies and to enhance areas of joint cooperation. He also noted his country's supportive stance towards Libya at the Human Rights Council, which contributes to achieving security and stability.

For his part, the Minister of Housing emphasized that Libya welcomes the participation of friendly countries, especially the People's Republic of China, in implementing development and construction projects, particularly the National Housing Project. He pointed to the importance of expediting these projects to meet the needs of the current phase and to implement the "Return to Life" plan being developed by the Government of National Unity.

The meeting addressed previous memoranda of understanding and contracts signed between the two sides, emphasizing the need to reactivate and implement them, while working to overcome the difficulties and challenges facing the implementing companies. This will be achieved through joint committees that will review the files and propose solutions. Support will also be provided for training and development programs for local personnel in the housing and construction sector.
