Al-Baour meets with the new Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Libya

Tripoli, March 31, 2026 (LANA) – The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Taher Al-Baour, met today, Tuesday, with the newly appointed Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Libya, Xu Liang.
During the meeting, they discussed and followed up on the results of the recent visit by the delegation of the High Committee for Supervising Libyan-Chinese Cooperation to the People's Republic of China. Emphasis was placed on the importance of establishing practical mechanisms to implement the agreements reached during that visit, thereby contributing to expanding the bilateral partnership.
The meeting also addressed expediting the reopening of the consular section of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Libya. This would facilitate access to visas and other consular services for Libyan citizens and strengthen ties between the two friendly nations.
Both sides stressed the importance of enhancing political consultations between the two countries to achieve common interests and initiating procedures for signing a memorandum of understanding on exempting holders of diplomatic passports from both countries from visa requirements for entry into the other country. Preparations for signing this memorandum will be conducted through diplomatic channels.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to continue working together to develop bilateral relations and strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries in various fields, in a way that serves their common interests and supports development efforts.
