AGOC and Shell Discuss Strategic Cooperation

Benghazi, March 30, 2026 (LANA) – Arabian Gulf Oil Company announced a meeting between its leadership and representatives of Shell to discuss avenues for technical and commercial cooperation and to pave the way for a long-term strategic partnership.

The company explained that these discussions, which come within the framework of Arabian Gulf Oil Company's ongoing efforts to enhance its production capacity and develop its oil infrastructure, focused on establishing a roadmap aimed at increasing production rates and developing mature fields.

The two sides discussed the possibility of using Shell's advanced enhanced oil recovery technologies to extend the lifespan of the fields operated by Arabian Gulf Oil Company and to address the technical challenges facing some oil sites, thus ensuring the continuity of revenue streams for the state.

The meeting also focused on technology and expertise transfer, emphasizing the need to train Libyan national personnel and familiarize them with the latest global management and operational systems adopted by Shell. This will contribute to raising operational efficiency and developing the company's human resources.

The company noted that a series of intensive technical workshops were held on the sidelines of these meetings with the relevant departments. Participating teams were divided according to department and specialization to ensure precise coordination, the exchange of specialized expertise, and the exploration of practical solutions to the challenges facing each sector.

The company explained that these steps reflect the growing confidence in the Libyan oil sector and its ability to attract investments and major international companies. This preliminary cooperation represents a shared vision for a more sustainable and efficient energy future, combining extensive local expertise with global technological innovation.
