Tunis, March 28, 2026 (LANA) – Dr. Maher Aburas, Director of the Postgraduate Studies Department at the Ministry of Technical and Vocational Education, participated in the high-level meeting organized by UNESCO – the Regional Office for the Maghreb – in the Tunisian capital. The meeting marked the launch of the regional report on technical and vocational education and training in the Maghreb countries, entitled: “Learning Today to Build Tomorrow.”
Dr. Aburas participated as a key contributor to the report, having prepared the chapter on Libya. He also served on the report's editorial committee and as UNESCO's official focal point in Libya.
The report is considered an important regional reference for assessing the current state of technical and vocational education and training in the Maghreb countries. It reviews the most prominent challenges facing this sector, particularly those related to aligning its outputs with labor market demands.
The report also includes a set of practical recommendations and implementation solutions aimed at improving the quality and efficiency of technical education and enhancing its role in supporting economic development, thereby contributing to the preparation of qualified personnel who meet the needs of the region's labor markets.
Participants in the meeting emphasized the importance of strengthening regional cooperation and exchanging expertise among the Maghreb countries to support the development of more effective educational policies that are responsive to the rapidly changing labor market.
