Benghazi, March 25, 2026 (LANA) – The Chargé d'Affaires of the US Embassy in Libya, Jeremy Berndt, revealed that he held several meetings in Benghazi with what he described as prominent Libyan leaders to discuss ways to strengthen trade and security relations between the United States and Libya.
Berndt stated in a tweet posted by the US Embassy on its Twitter account: “During the meetings, we emphasized the importance of the full implementation of the Unified Development Program Agreement, establishing a unified budget to support financial stability, ensuring balanced development spending that benefits all regions of Libya, protecting the purchasing power of the Libyan people, and creating the necessary conditions for international investment.” He added, “I stressed the United States’ strong support for Libyan efforts to unify military and security institutions, and its continued encouragement of its partners throughout Libya to overcome divisions, unify Libyan institutions, and achieve lasting peace, in order to focus on opportunities to expand prosperity for the Libyan people and their international partners.”
