Tripoli, March 26, 2026 (LANA) – The Russian Ambassador to Libya, Aydar Aganin, praised the efforts of the Libyan authorities in handling the Russian natural gas tanker "Arctic Metagas," emphasizing the role of the relevant authorities in ensuring the ship's safety and preventing any environmental risks.

The praise came during a meeting on Tuesday with Taher Baour, the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in the Government of National Unity, where the two sides discussed current developments and prospects for Libyan-Russian relations.

Both sides affirmed their shared interest in strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields, focusing on the ongoing coordination regarding the tanker's situation. They commended the efforts of the National Oil Corporation and the Ports and Maritime Transport Authority in managing the matter.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on key regional and international issues of mutual interest, according to a post on the Russian Embassy's official page.
